Aptitude Testing
Our aptitude testing service is a series of interactive assessments that provide objective data about natural talents (aptitudes). We’re both a testing service and a nonprofit research institute with over 100 years of research into careers and human aptitudes.
Our service goes a step beyond traditional career tests which often stop at measuring personality or interests, which can change over time. We provide a comprehensive career exploration service that combines interest measurements, research-backed personality assessments, and an in-depth aptitude testing to provide a comprehensive picture of your whole self and the types of careers that would be the best fit for you.
Our aptitude tests are performance-based assessments that feel like puzzles or games. They provide objective, neutral data about your innate strengths. These scores aren’t influenced by learned skills, work experience, or any other outside factors. They’re a snapshot of how your mind likes to naturally work.
Aptitude testing provides self-knowledge to help adults at any stage of their working lives make strengths-based career choices. Your test results can point you towards the types of work that you’re most likely to find satisfying; help you understand what motivates you in your professional life; and give you the confidence to take the next steps in your career, whether it’s starting your own business, re-entering the workforce, or even preparing for retirement.
Our research shows that the secret to a satisfying career is finding work that uses your natural talent and potential. Understanding your aptitudes is a shortcut to getting on the right path for your future.
The JOCRF Difference
What are Aptitudes?
Aptitudes are natural talents for doing certain kinds of things quickly and easily.
These abilities aren’t related to what you’ve learned in school or your interests, which can change over time.
Aptitudes are talents you’re born with, so you can use your test results to make decisions throughout your life.
Our Tests are Different
Most career tests stop at measuring personality or interests, which can provide an incomplete and changing view of the individual.
Our tests go a step further by combining research-backed personality assessments with performance-driven data about your natural talents.
Your test results provide a snapshot of your whole self and the careers that you're most likely to excel in and enjoy.
How will Aptitude Testing Help Me?
Knowing your strengths and weaknesses is one of the most important aspects of career planning.
Aptitude testing provides objective data about the areas you’re likely to succeed in and the ones you might want to avoid.
People tend to be more satisfied and successful in occupations that use their aptitudes.

There are no good or bad aptitudes or passing or failing scores on our aptitude tests.
Many available career tests stop at measuring personality or interests, which can provide an incomplete picture of the individual. Interest tests, in particular, can also give different results at different life stages.

Our comprehensive aptitude tests are performance-based and provide objective, neutral data about innate strengths.

Clients also take a research-backed personality assessment based on the Big Five personality traits and an industry-standard career interest survey called The Self-Directed Search.
Our tests are a hybrid of hands-on and digital assessments. Testing must take place in one of our 15 testing centers across the U.S.
This is a one-on-one testing environment. Clients test at their own desk with headphones (digital tests) or in an office with a test administrator (one-on-one tests). Clients are not tested in a group setting.
Our tests feel like puzzles or games. Some are as short as a couple of minutes, and others are as long as twenty minutes. There’s a lot of variety throughout the day.
There’s no advanced studying or preparation required.
Test results are discussed in 60-90 minute consultation sessions over Zoom or in person, usually on a separate day from the testing. There’s a second consultation appointment available within the first year of testing.
There are two in-person testing sessions, each about three hours long. Testing takes place in person in one of our 15 testing centers.
The results appointment is 60-90 minutes and held on a separate day from testing. Most clients choose a Zoom results appointment, but they can also be held in-person.
Many of our clients opt for a one-day testing format (testing in the morning and afternoon with a lunch break in the middle of the day), but you can also split the testing over two separate mornings or afternoons.
The fee is $950.
